On 8 March 2022, the Regional Development Agency of Bačka organised the second part of the third online local workshop (which completed this workshop in full) within the project New Approaches to Seismic Improvement and Reconstruction of Adriatic and Ionian Historic Urban Centers - ADRISEISMIC, which is implemented in cooperation with seven other partner institutions from the Adrion area (Adriatic - Ionian).

The professional public in the Republic of Serbia had the opportunity to learn about the following topics through two technical work packages which were presented by experts in earthquake engineering:

  • Work package technical 2 – Expeditious assessment of concrete buildings: methodology and examples, presented by Svetlana Brzev, PhD, President of the Serbian Association for Earthquake Engineering (SUZI-SAEE) & Professor at the University of British Columbia, Canada, and

  • Work package technical 3 - Transfer of knowledge - Training courses in ADRISEISMIC project, presented by Marko Marinković, PhD, Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, University of Belgrade.

In addition to the above mentioned topics, the representative of Regional Development Agency Bačka Marija Prokopić informed the workshop participants in brief with the basic challenges in the Adriatic-Ionian region and the ADRION programme in general within which the ADRISEISMIC project is financed. Also, in the final part of the workshop, Svetlana Brzev, PhD informed the participants about the project activities that will be implemented in the upcoming period.

ADRISEISMIC project is supported within the Interreg V-B Adriatic-Ionian Cooperation Programme 2014-2020 – ADRION. The overall project objective is to exchange and systematize knowledge and practices in tackling the reduction of the seismic vulnerability of the built environment in Project Partner countries, to harmonize planning and management of emergencies after seismic events and the post-earthquake phase, in order to drastically improve the approaches for dealing with and to secure the reduction of seismic vulnerability among ADRION regions. The main focus areas are the historical urban centres and historical squares and their surrounding buildings, conceived as symbol of local identity and socio-economic cores for the ADRION settlements. The total value of the project is 1.126.640,00 Euros (ERDF and IPA II contribution amounts to 957.644,00 Euros or 85%). Period of implementation: 1 March 2020 – 31 August 2022.
